What We Can Learn From Rio 2016?

So it is over for another four years.

We had great sporting action for the past two weeks and it came to a close last night.  Mind you, I'm struggling to write this, as the 4 hour time difference between London and Rio, has messed up my sleeping pattern.  But this shouldn't be of any excuse.

I don't want to ponder about Team GB's great success in the games.

Although coming 2nd on the Gold Medal Count Table is not bad, especially of the size and population of the country.

But what these individuals, athletes can do to inspire you into business.

As a business person.  I have leant being in business is a marathon and not a sprint.  You have to stay focused and keep your eye on the prize.

That prize can be anything, purchasing certain items to grow your business, saving up money for a house or even flying first class.

Just remember, it is you who are in control and it's you who are getting that prize.

Take a look at Mo Farah in the 10,000 Km Final.  He has trained all his life to win double gold in two different Olympics.  The guy's goal is to win gold medals for his kids.  On the race its self he took a tumble, but with his will and strength, Mo Farah managed to win gold.

As a business, you may right now have taken a tumble, but you have to get up, keep going and strive for you goal.

But well done Team GB for a great games and I cannot wait for the robot volunteers in Tokyo 2020.

Are you inspired from Team GB's success and are applying it to your own business? Let me know through Twitter, @eugeneeyo.  Or send me an email.

Marketing Is Everything, Everything Is Marketing.

If you haven't noticed, I may have popped up onto your twitter feed as promoted tweet. (If you did, please get in contact with me.)

The whole point for me as a business to get out there.

Marketing is very tricky, that's because stuff just happens.

It's all about being there at the right time at the right moment.

People/customers/clients can see your image, advert, commercial, etc, and they are aware of it.

So if you are thinking if these pay per click websites like Twitter Ads and Adwords are not the right return on investment.  I say think about it, and think about the exposure you are giving yourself and your business.

Think about those sofa adverts that are always on the telly and why they're products are always on sale.

When you need a new soda, these sofa ads just popped up at the right time and at the right moment.

THAT IS MARKETING.

Have you thought of anyways of marketing your business?  Thought of video as a way.  If you want to know more about video production for your business, listen to my podcast series 'The Video For Your Business Podcast with Eugene Eyo'.  Or if you got any enquires about video productions, feel free to contact me.

How Much Is Your Self Worth?

Check out this video from Creative.com*

What the video explains, is you shouldn't devalue yourself.  Go out on your own means to make a living and charge what you are worth.

In my early of freelancing, pricing myself was a sketchy thing for me.  For someone who was new to self-employment, I didn't know how to price myself.

I would go on to do work experience for free, take any job that would pay peanuts, just so I can build my portfolio.  The problem with this, is that you are devaluing your self worth.  Also by devaluing yourself, you are also devaluing the industry you are working in.

So with a devalued industry, how are you going to make a living?

It is easy to say, I am worth £5000.  But you have to back up your claim to that £5000.

To claim your worth, you have to be persistent on your work, please your client and get the job on time.

What do you think of this post?  Are you a creative freelancer that struggles with pricing?

SEO x Video

To follow up from my last post about SEO.  Video plays a big part on your rankings.

Did you know, YouTube is the second largest search engine?

With that statistic, businesses are flocking to YouTube for their marketing needs.  They know their audience consumes video and to help with their branding, they have set up a YouTube channel.

This is one way you can increase your SEO ranking.

With a YouTube channel, you can create content to resolve on your business needs.  This can range from doing vlogs about your company or a campaign for a product launch.

So why not try video for your SEO or marketing needs.

Take a look at a video I did for a non-profit called Philippine Generations.  The video is highlights Michael Castro, as he trains for the 2011 London Marathon.

What do you think of this video?  Do you use video for your marketing and SEO rankings? Please tell by tweeting me @eugeneeyo or drop me an e-mail.

What's With SEO?

I am really new to this, but it's something I found fascinating.

For those who don't know what SEO, here's a video to explain.
So why do I find it fascinating?  Well one, I have a website (if you are not this post from my website, log onto eugenee.eyo), and I track down to if my audience are login on to it.  If my audience is visiting my website more, then my website will be the top search result on Google.  (Or your prefered search engine.)

As a business owner, I regularly check how my website is doing, in terms of visitors.  I do this through Google Analytic.  I do this, so I can engage with my audience on what content they view on my website.  With this information, I can provide enough information about my video production services.

It can be quite addictive.  It is like checking on social media if you have enough 'likes' or retweets.  However, if you put checking it by the minute on a side, the information it provides is useful.

Did you know, that video can play a part for your SEO rankings?  Check out one of previous post, on how YouTube is the 'Second Largest Search Engine'.

What do you think of this post?  Do you use SEO as part of your business?  How can video play a part on your SEO?  You can tell me by tweeting me, @eugeneeyo or send an email.
