Looking at the specs, it's really impressive. I think this camera will challenge the RED Epic, because you can record in 4K resolution. Also the price. While the RED Epic is going for around $43,000 (Red.com), the Canon EOS C300 will go for around $16,000 (Canonrumors.com) (All this consist of the body only). But it looks like Canon is ahead of game, away from Panasonic and Sony.
I think they took the concept of how filmmakers are now using their DSLRs for film production and put it all into the EOS C300. Although the C300 is a EOS, it is primarily a DSLR.
I can't wait to see the footage from this camera. We may have to wait until January 2012 for its release. According to Canonrumors, they said they were targeting the Sony F3. I've recently seen a film shot on an F3 and the image was beautiful. But after the EOS C300 announcement, I can't wait to see its capability.
A round of applause to Canon.
Oh and a 30-300mm lens. WOW, just fucking WOW.
