Videos For Devices

Last week on LinkedIn, I came across this post from BuzzFeed:

And it shows how they adapted their video for users on Facebook for their mobile devices.

We all been there, when looking at a video at portrait position, we tend to "accidentally" move our phones to landscape position, resulting to automatically tilting the video, making it smaller and then giving us a bad experience viewing it.  By making the video into a square format, it is fitted for both portrait and landscape positions and gives us a better viewing experience.  So there's no need to squint your eyes when the video has gone smaller.

What we can learn from Buzzfeed's approach to videos, is you can adapt your videos for your audience's needs.  We live in an age, where we can consume video on different devices.  The days of watching content has dramatically changed from the good old days of cinema and will continue to do so, in much faster rate.

So when thinking about video, ask yourself.  Where will this video be viewed on and how can I give my audience the best viewing experience possible?
