I know I've been doing the photography side a bit too much lately, so let's take it back to the theme of moving images/films.
Although you may consider time-lapse a form of photography, but you can argue that's form of animation, if you calculate all that frames per second bullshit.

So time lapses, why are there a lot of them? I think it has to do with the rise and popularity of DSLRs, making them, is now more access. Time lapse has gone so far from the days of Koyaanisqatsi (1982). Also with platforms such as YouTube and Vimeo, can allow filmmakers to showcase their time lapses. Vimeo showcase them a lot on their Vimeo Staff Picks feed. And I don't blame them, the majority of them are good. However, in my opinion, with the vast amount of time lapses out there can get boring.
It doesn't stand out as much as did before. To see a 24 hour within 30 seconds was a fun experience, but now, I like to time lapses as part of a scene, than just a dedicated video to the art form.
I don't want to bad mouth on anybody that takes their time to make time lapses video. Just like stop motion, you need the patiences to be produce such a video. I did attempt a time lapse once, and I will do it again at the right time, but I couldn't handle patience to get the end result.
Tell what you think? Are there are a lot of time lapses video out there? Am I wrong that the art form is boring?
To end of good note, here are some of my favourite time lapse videos.
Ross Ching - Running On Empty (2010)
